Is off-site shredding as secure as on-site?
Yes — when performed by a NAID-certified provider. The NAID certification means our facilities, vehicles, and employees meet independently audited security standards. The Certificate of Destruction we issue is accepted by HIPAA, FACTA, and GLBA auditors as evidence of compliant destruction.
What happens if a container is lost or tampered with in transit?
Our vehicles are GPS-tracked and our containers are tamper-evident (any breach is immediately visible). In the extremely unlikely event of an incident, our procedures require immediate notification and we carry appropriate liability coverage.
How often should containers be emptied?
Depending on your document volume, most offices empty containers monthly or bi-monthly. High-volume practices (busy medical or legal offices) may need weekly service. We’ll recommend the right frequency during your consultation.
Can I get off-site service for a one-time purge too?
Absolutely. Off-site is a great option for one-time purges where watching the shredding is not a priority. We’ll pick up your boxed or binned documents and transport them to our facility — more cost-effective than a mobile truck for many purge jobs.
How does off-site shredding help with HIPAA compliance?
HIPAA requires covered entities and business associates to destroy PHI so it’s unreadable and cannot be reconstructed.
