Document Shredding for Schools & Universities
FERPA-compliant destruction of student records, personnel files, and testing materials. NAID-certified shredding trusted by K-12 districts and higher education institutions across the Midwest.
Education Institutions Handle Highly Protected Student Data
FERPA protects student education records. When those records reach end of retention, they must be destroyed securely — not recycled or strip-shredded.
FERPA Compliant
FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) restricts disclosure of student education records. Secure destruction is the required method when records reach end of retention.
NAID Certified
Student records handled exclusively by background-checked personnel. NAID certification provides the independently audited security standard your district or institution needs.
Certificate of Destruction
A COD for every pickup — documents the date, volume, and method. Keep it in your records management file for state education department audits.
Flexible Scheduling
Summer cleanouts, semester-end purges, or year-round recurring service. We schedule around your academic calendar.
Education Documents We Destroy
Anything with a student’s name or identifying information is protected under FERPA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our shredding services.
What does FERPA require for destroying student records?
FERPA doesn’t specify a destruction method, but HHS and state education department guidance consistently recommends certified cross-cut shredding with a documented record of destruction. State records retention schedules (not FERPA itself) determine how long records must be kept before they can be destroyed.
Do you service entire school districts across multiple buildings?
Yes. We set up multi-site accounts for school districts with service at individual school buildings, administrative offices, and warehouse/records storage locations. One account, one invoice, consolidated CODs per location.
Can you handle a large summer cleanout purge?
Absolutely — summer is our busiest time for school district purges. Many districts use summer to clean out record rooms, retire old files, and transition to digital storage. We can handle large-volume purges in one or multiple visits.
What about test materials and testing security documents?
Standardized test materials often carry strict security requirements from the testing publisher (College Board, ACT, state testing agencies) regarding disposal. We provide the highest-security shredding method — physical cross-cut destruction with COD — that satisfies most testing publisher requirements. Confirm with your specific testing agency’s guidelines.
Do you handle hard drives from school computers?
Yes. We offer physical hard drive destruction for decommissioned school computers, tablets, and servers. Student data on retired devices must be destroyed — software wiping alone is often insufficient for the school’s liability protection. We destroy the drive and provide a certificate with device serial numbers.
